According to Elsie Drake Goepfert in The Henderson County Heritage, Volume 1, ​”Francis Henri Drake was born 14 October 1905, died 22 February 1980. He was educated at Pleasant Hill and graduated from Hendersonville High School and from Draughon’s of Greenville, South Carolina and began his banking career in 1927 with Central Bank and Trust Company, Hendersonville, serving various capacities. He was manager of Collections and Installment Loans Department and Vice President with Northwestern Bank at the time of his retirement in October 1971. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and served as church treasurer for years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 84th Infantry Division, Headquarters, Camp Howe, Texas, as finance officer. He was also a member of American Legion, Hubert M. Smith Post 77, thirty six years, member of Woodman of the World, and a key member, director and past president of Hendersonville Lions Club. He also served with the Red Cross, United Fund, Henderson County Heart Fund and Apple Festivals.
