Company Muster-out Roll in Knoxville, Tennessee dated August 16, 1865 shows a muster-out date of August 16, 1865 and that Richard T. Drake was last paid to June 30, 1864. It shows that he was a Private, Company F. 2nd Regiment Mounted Infantry and age 30 years. It shows that he was due U.S. $28.03 and Bounty paid $25. Remarks show “Private from enlistment. Present for duty. Deserted Aug 31, 64. Returned March 1, 65. Restored to duty with loss of pay and allowance while absent for S.O. No 29, 2 NC Mtd Infantry. Notation War Department, Adjutant General’s Office Washington April 9, 1869. Book Mark Noz – 79-1869. Shows Richard T. Drake in Company F 2nd Regiment North Carolina Mounted Infantry. States “By an act of Congress approved Mch 26, 1869, the Secretary of Wars was authorized and directed to remove the charge of unauthorized absence in 1864, against certain men of the 2nd N.C. Mtd. Inf, arising from their detail in June 1864, to the 3rd. N.C. Mtd. Inf., to assist in making a raid into the enemy’s lines.”
Notation War Department, Adjutant General’s Office, Washington August 23, 1871. Claim No. 29. Shows Richard T. Drake in Company F, 2nd Regiment North Carolina Mounted Infantry. States “Report from Records of Pris. Of War will be accepted as referring to Richard T. Drake Co. F. 2 N.C. Mtd. I. instead of Richard Drake captured at Chucky Knob Sep 13/ 64, escaped at Asheville N.C. Feb 15/ 85 and reported at Knoxville Tenn March 3/ 65. And those records will be corrected accordingly.”
