James Drake
James Drake, husband of
Keziah Champion Drake
James Drake was born on 15-March-1810 and died during January 1870 in Henderson County, North Carolina. He was the son of Hezekiah Drake and Sarah Elizabeth Barton Drake. The cause of his death was Bronchial Consumption. James Drake was a farmer and he married Keziah Champion in the mid-1830s. She was born on 18-Dec-1816 in Rutherford County, North Carolina and died on August 27, 1887. James and Keziah had 11 children (Martha Selenia Drake, John H. “Kimsey” Drake, William “Bill” Drake, Sarah Anne Drake, Richard T. Drake, Allison Fidelia Drake, Mary Jane Drake, James Buchanan “Buck” Drake, Leander “Lee” Drake, Nathan “Teet” Drake, and one child that died as an infant.
Note – the date on this tombstone appears to be in error according to estate documents that were filed which reflect that James Drake died intestate in January 1870.
James and Keziah Drake and many of their descendants are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
