Margaret Hefner Collins, wife of
Shirley Clay Collins
According to Maude Hefner Coppedge in The Heritage of Henderson County, Volume II, in an article about George William and Rosa Lee Patterson Hefner says “Margaret Hefner, third daughter of George and Rosa graduated from East Flat Rock High School and attended Cecil’s Business College in Asheville, North Carolina. She married Shirley Clay Collins. He was the son of John and Eliza Cordellia Harper Collins. Margaret is the fourth generation living at the Patterson Home Place. She has always made this home for the family. Shirley owned and operated two service stations in Hendersonville. They have two daughters, Tonya Rae and Erica Dawn. Tonya attended Gardner Webb University. Erica is a student at East Henderson High. Joan is presently employed by Henderson County.”
