Martin H. Goepfert, Jr., husband of Elsie Lee Drake Goepfert
According to Elsie Drake Goepfert in The Heritage of Henderson County, Volume I, “Elsie Lee Drake 25 March 1917, married Martin Henry Goepfert, Jr. 22 January 1916 – 17 August 1984. He was the son of Frances Brimon and Martin H. Goepfert, Sr. They were parents of two children, Elsie Lee Goepfert, R. N. and Martin H. Goepfert, III both of Hendersonville and members of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Among several positions Martin was litho pressman for Miller Printing Company of Asheville for seventeen years. He was along with Elsie owner and operator of Elsie’s Elves, pre-school and summer day camp for seventeen years. He was a member of Kedron Masonic Lodge, Number 387 A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Asheville; Hendersonville Shrine Club; Past Patron Hendersonville Number 61 Order of Eastern Star; Life member of Valley Hill Volunteer Fire Department and a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 503rd Paratroop infantry in the South Pacific during World War II.”
